Bonded Export Units Facilitation

Bonded export unit is specific concept unique to India, which facilitates to encourage exports, i.e., manufacturing takes place within customs bonded area. The principle is, such units do not follow the usual export/ import bonded service procedure as their manufacturing plant is ‘in-bond’ and all the inputs like raw materials, etc,.are received duty free. Such units are popularly referred to as , EOU (Export Oriented Unit), EPZ (Export Processing Zones), STP (software technology park) ,EHTP(Electronic Hardware Technology Park) etc,

By virtue of manufacturing ‘in –bond ‘these units are supposed to undertake export services obligations. They are also not permitted to sell their products, within the country. Since stores and work-in-progress are duty free, specific procedures are applied for inventory accounting, dispatch of goods to places within the country for further processing, transfer of material from one EOU to other etc. Bonded export Services are closely monitored to ensure that duty free inputs are not misused.
